Secure Routers

If you have a home network, you have a router that connects the computers in your network to the Internet. All routers serve as an incoming firewall, hiding the computers on the network and preventing would-be intruders from identifying and directly accessing them. However, if your computer were to become infected with malware, it may attempt to infect other computers connected to the Internet, instigate distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, or send spam emails. To prevent this, your router must monitor outgoing traffic as well. Newer routers generally monitor outgoing traffic, but if your router is older it may not.
